How Ion Exchange Resins Work in Water Softening and Demineralization
Water may look clean, but dissolved minerals can create serious problems for industrial processes. Calcium and magnesium can form scale inside boilers, heat exchangers, pipelines, and cooling systems. Dissolved salts can increase conductivity and interfere with processes that require high-purity water. In applications such as pharmaceuticals, power generation, food processing, and chemical manufacturing, simply removing visible impurities is often not enough. This is where ion exchange resins come in. They remove unwanted dissolved ions by exchanging them with ions held by specially designed resin beads.
